Reality RocksAdam Lambert “Can’t Think of Three Nice Things to Say” About Clay Aiken
Everyone loves a good TV feud, of course. And now that Adam Lambert's neon-painted claws have so thrillingly come out during a recent Bravo interview, when he was grilled about fellow "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken, I can't wait to "watch what happens" next, as Bravo's copywriters would say.
So Adam appeared on Bravo's chatfest "Watch What Happens" Thursday night, and host Andy Cohen put him on the spot by ordering him to "say three nice things about Clay Aiken," as part of the show's "Plead The Fifth" segment. Adam, who is nothing if not honest (his bluntness gets him in trouble sometimes, but hey, I love him for it), answered, "Can't think of any."
"Want to plead fifth?" Andy asked. "No, I just can't think of any nice things!" Adam answered with a laugh.
But before anyone thinks Adam's getting way too catty, remember that Clay doesn't have many nice things to say about Adam either. However, he volunteered plenty of not-so-nice opinions about Adam back in 2009, in a personal blog on his website. Shortly after Adam's "Idol" run, Clay wrote that Adam's performance of "Ring Of Fire" made his "ears bleed" and was "contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!" (Talk about some Clayhate!) Later, when asked by "Access Hollywood" about Clay's surprising remarks, Adam smilingly shrugged and answered with a flippant: "I don't know Clay. I'm glad he's getting headlines now, though, because he wasn't before. If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him." (Oh, snap!)
Around that time, it was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times that Clay actually had wanted to record a duet with Adam, and that he had turned up unannounced at the "Idol" set and was turned away by the show's crew. Many fans suspected that was the reason for Clay's bitter comments, but the point is, whatever the reason, you can't blame Adam for having nothing nice to say about Clay now. Sorry, but I'm Team Adam on this one!
I thought all this Aiken/Lambert stuff was old news, but Andy Cohen just had to go there, so now Adam's Bravo segment this week has fans all fired up again. And I can't help but be a little amused. Clay has yet to fire back, as of this writing, but he's become increasingly feisty on his Twitter as of late, so this could get good. Pass the popcorn, please.
