Alec Baldwin defended himself today against a photographer who claims the "30 Rock" actor slugged him outside the Manhattan's city clerk's office.

"The guy lunged and he almost hit me in the teeth with the lens of the camera so I just pushed the guy away," Baldwin said on "CBS This Morning." "They all scream like they're political prisoners."

New York Daily News photographer Marcus Santos filed a complaint against Baldwin Tuesday and went to a hospital to be examined for injuries. In an interview with ABC News, he said he was resting, taking painkillers and has consulted a lawyer.

Baldwin's rep has denied that any punches were thrown and sources close to Baldwin told ABC News that the actor is keeping his options open about the possibility of filing his own assault claim.

"People think I'm just decking photographers willy-nilly, nothing could be further from the truth," Baldwin said today. "I'm dumb but I'm not that dumb."
