Justin Jordan, Michael Jordan’s nephew, is among best under-the-radar recruits in Class of 2013
In the modern era of recruiting hype, it's rare that a top senior has somehow avoided significant attention through his first three years. It's even more rare when a senior has a famous relative involved with the sport at a professional level and still goes unnoticed. Incredibly, rising senior Justin Jordan has managed to accomplish both of those feats.
Jordan, the nephew of Michael Jordan, may be one of the true under-the-radar gems of the Class of 2013. Jordan was brought to Prep Rally's attention by ScoutsFocus, which recently got the guard to commit to playing at one of the service's showcases. As the video above makes abundantly clear, Jordan belongs to be there on merit.

The son of Larry Jordan, MJ's older brother, Justin Jordan has yet to spend a single season as a starter, and spent his entire freshman and sophomore seasons on junior varsity squads, but the Davidson (N.C.) Day School guard still managed to provide some breakthrough performances as a junior while competing as a sixth man on a state title team that featured five senior starters.
Now, with that entire senior lineup departed, the spotlight at Jordan's school falls directly on him. Though the season may be months away, Jordan clearly isn't planning to pass up on that chance for major exposure. The teen is finally hitting the major summer hoops circuit after training with former NBA star Muggsy Bogues.
For his part, Bogues left little doubt that Justin Jordan, who stands 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds and wears number 13, could be a legitimate Division I point guard.
"You're going to think I'm crazy for saying this, and I'm not sure you're ready to hear this, but [Justin Jordan] reminds me a lot of his uncle Michael," Bogues told ScoutsFocus. "The ways he moves, the movement in his long strides, the way he handles the ball and the way he has his uncle's athletic traits. He moves just like his uncle, how he goes between his legs.
"When I was training he had that movement like Michael; he's going to be his own player of course, but the way he plays just reminds me of his uncle."
That's an incredible compliment coming from a former NBA All-Star who knows a thing or two about making the most of his chances. And with a work ethic that includes three-hour practice sessions and academic regimen that has landed the senior a 3.74 GPA and 1600 SAT at the extremely competitive Davidson Day School, the younger Jordan might even have a little of his uncle's stardust trickling down on his future.
