Chris Brown performs on ‘Today’ to screaming fans, gets in Twitter feud with Cher

"Good Morning America" will likely never have Chris Brown back after he threw a chair through a green room window last March, but that didn't stop NBC's "Today" from making him a part of their summer concert series on Friday morning in New York City. As thousands of screaming, mostly female fans packed against the stage, the R&B singer cranked out a medley of his biggest hits, including "Turn Up the Music," "Yeah 3x," and "Forever."

And unlike his highly-criticized Billboard Music Awards performance during which he lip-synched horribly, Brown, 23, actually attempted to sing his lyrics, although he was often out of breath due to his dancing and jumping around on stage. But his dedicated fans — some of whom had started camping out for tickets 24 hours before — didn't seem to mind. Many were seen in the crowd taking videos on their cellphones, singing along to the music, and holding up "Team Breezy" signs in support of Brown, who always seems to find himself in hot water.

His latest stunt? On Thursday, his Twitter account sent out a tweet to 66-year-old singer Cher of all people for her supposed disapproval of Barack Obama, even though she's a proud democrat who recently attended a fundraiser for the president. "That damn GRANNY bitch CHER needs to keep her mouth SHUTTTT about her opinion against obama !!! … she needs a beating." The "Believe" singer's fans quickly came to her rescue. When one asked her about the physical threat, Cher responded in typical witty fashion. "I Don't know? Is that something he's particularly Good at?" she asked, clearly referencing his attack on former girlfriend Rihanna. After all the upset, Brown claimed that he had been hacked and was not the one to threaten Cher — but that didn't stop him from still taking a swipe. "I would like to say that some of ur fans … are spreading false accusations!" he tweeted to her account, which doesn't really make sense considering they were simply reacting to the menacing tweet that was sent from his handle.

Do you believe Brown that it was the work of a hacker?
