Anonymous donor provides endowment in honor of Andrew Luck
Andrew Luck's legacy at Stanford will live on forever - in monetary form.
The university announced Tuesday that an anonymous donor endowed a gift to the offensive coordinator position in the name of Luck, this year's No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft and the player responsible for putting Stanford football back on the map.
Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton will now be known as the Andrew Luck Director of Offense.
"I am very pleased that Andrew Luck's name will be perpetually tied to the Director of Offense position at Stanford," said coach David Shaw, whose position is technically Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football. "Because of his great play on the field, his intellect and his great relationships with the coaching staff, Andrew allowed us to do so much on offense the last three years at Stanford. He set the bar high for himself, for every quarterback who comes to Stanford, and for our performance as an offense."
Prior to Luck enrolling at Stanford in 2009, the Cardinal had seven consecutive losing seasons. During Luck's three seasons as starter, he was 31-7, including 8-3 against Top 25 teams.
This is a very cool honor for Luck, who put Stanford in a great position to be one of the powers in the Pac-12 for quite some time.
