Neither team has shined in its domestic competition, with Chelsea finishing a lowly sixth in the English Premier League and Bayern losing out to Borussia Dortmund in the race for the Bundesliga title.
However, both have shown exceptional Champions League form and ensured that the predicted final between Real Madrid and Barcelona did not materialize.
