Kate Gosselin’s Shocking Admission: Jon and I Have Made Peace!

Kate Gosselin appeared on the "Today" show Monday and said something we absolutely positively never expected to hear come from her lips: She and her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, are getting along!

Yes — you read that correctly. Kate and Jon have made nice.

The mom of eight was on the NBC morning show to talk about her new gig as a coupon blogger, and also offered up the shocking news that she and Jon — whose marriage imploded while filming their TLC reality series "Jon and Kate Plus 8" — are now on friendly terms. "I can honestly say it's more peaceful than it's ever been," said the 37-year-old single mom. "I feel that a very big weight has been lifted off my shoulders." So what changed? "He's really been positive and more available and it's just less stressful. I feel that he's been working with me more, and the kids notice it. And that's good. Because I've always just wanted that peace for them and we're finally to a point where it's happening... I can take that emotional energy that was wasted in that areas and put it back towards the kids."

Kate's comments are a noted change from what viewers saw on their show — the couple fought constantly before filing for divorce in 2009 amid allegations Jon was unfaithful. Then in the aftermath of their split, they both engaged in public mudslinging and faced off in court over their divorce, child custody issues, and whether or not their kids should be on TV.

During Kate's interview with "Today," she also set the groundwork for a possible new reality series because their show went off the air last September and her contract with TLC has now ended. "Fans are begging" for her and her family to return to TV, Kate told Ann Curry. And the children, including the sextuplets who recently turned 8, "honestly miss filming," she said, noting: "We're hoping to move forward and do more fun projects."

So how are Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, Joel, and their 11-year-old twin sisters, Cara and Mady? "Awesome," said Kate, who noted several times that the kids are thriving in school, perhaps due to reports that two of them had been expelled from their private Pennsylvania school. "Everybody is excelling in school across the board. Totally doing amazingly well. We've had a great school year. They love school."

As for Jon, he continues to try to stay out of the spotlight, but recently made headlines for his new side job. In addition to his 9-to-5 gig working construction, Jon, 35, was a DJ for a middle school dance in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, earlier this month. He and his latest girlfriend, mother-of-three Liz Jannetta, were in charge of the tunes at the party for 13 and 14-year-old school kids, which attracted the attention of many of the parent chaperones. An eyewitness told Radar Online: "When they walked in, one of the moms went up to him and asked: 'Are you Jon Gosselin?' And he said: 'Yes, I am'. The next thing you know everyone started taking pictures. He was polite and smiling."
