‘Expendables 2′ trailer brings second coming of Chuck Norris

The new trailer for "The Expendables 2" reveals snippets of kick-ass action sequences, a cast of action icons whose careers span the past six decades, and perhaps most importantly -- our first look at Chuck *freaking* Norris! -- who is, by the way, single-handedly responsible for tipping the number of career decades to six.

It's been seven years since Norris has starred in a film -- "The Cutter" went direct to DVD in 2005 --and 17 years since his last major theatrical release ("Top Dog," 1995). "The Expendables 2" is now rectifying the situation.

Now. Norris. Is. Back.

As of late, the 72-years-old actor, famous for battling adversaries with mixed martial arts moves, seems better known as the subject of comedic fodder. Among the many spoofs in recent years is Adult Swim comedy "Eaglehart," based on nineties series "Walker, Texas Ranger," in which Chris Elliot plays the Norris-like lead. Judging by chuckle-inspiring "Chuck Norris Facts" that appear on Norris' official website www.chucknorris.com, he doesn't seem to mind: "Chuck Norris ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and got one."

Booker is the name of Norris' character in "Expendables 2," seen briefly in the new trailer (below). The peek seems to indicate he is allied with Barney Ross, played by Sylvester Stallone -- who co-wrote the script. If you thought the first "Expendables" starred every relevant action icon of the past few decades, "2" ups the ante, adding not only Norris, but also Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and even "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth.
