Sometimes good quality comes with a hefty price tag. But have you ever saved up for something expensive only to have it break or fall apart way too soon? This just happened to an editor at The Gloss who splurged on her first pair of Christian Louboutins. She wanted to treat herself to some fancy high heel boots, and after trying them on and drooling over them in Bergdorf Goodman, she shelled out a whopping $895 for the Asymmetrical Napa Booties.

Eager to show off her new shoes, the Gloss editor wore them out at night, walking around for a total of 30 minutes, which included walking up one flight of stairs. But you would not believe the damage done in that short amount of time! The zipper broke, the leather and plastic tip on the heel were damaged, and random patches of leather wore off on both sides of the shoes. Sorry, but we've had $40 heels for years with none of these problems. Hopefully the editor can return these and get her full money back.

Every once in a while something like this happens. We'll buy a nice cashmere sweater that pills instantly, or spend a lot of a piece of jewelry that breaks. It really makes you wonder about quality-sometimes items that cost $900 are no better than an items that cost $100, and sometimes the craftsmanship is extremely evident and you get what you pay for.

Have you ever had problems with pricey fashion items that should have been better made? Or nice garments and accessories that were straight up defective? Let us know which purchases we should all avoid!
