Keith Urban Invited To Join Grand Ole Opry

Keith Urban received the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday night, while helming up his annual All for the Hall benefit show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena--an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry!

The fun started when Urban's co-host of the event, Vince Gill, strode on stage and asked Urban to put down his guitar for a minute. The guys from Rascal Flatts, who had performed an earlier set, then dragged a black duffle bag over and instructed Urban to open it.

Urban, looking confused but game, unzipped the bag and took out...a Grand Ole Opry microphone!

"Thank you so much," gasped an overcome Urban, after Gill extended the official invitation to become the newest member of the Opry. "My God. I don't know what to say...I'm shocked...it's a huge honor, and how beautiful to have this happen tonight of all nights."

He then went on to express his gratitude to a list of people, placing his fans and the population of Nashville at the very top. "I will always remember the first time I played [the Opry]," he noted. "Seeing this stand, and coming out and standing in the circle was an extraordinarily surreal moment. So this right here is just a whole other stratosphere...this means the world to me."

Urban's induction is scheduled for April 21. Big congratulations on such a well-deserved honor, Keith! Be sure to leave your well-wishes for him here, too!
