Ohio almost hit a miraculous buzzer beater to beat North Carolina (video)

This much. The distance between the first and last letter of that sentence was how close Ohio came to pulling one of the biggest upsets in NCAA tournament history.

With the score tied and 15 seconds remaining in Friday's Sweet 16 game, North Carolina's Harrison Barnes drove to give the Tar Heels the go-ahead basket. He lost the ball and it was recovered by Ohio's Walter Offutt, who passed it to teammate D.J. Cooper. As time expired, the junior guard launched a shot from half court that would have made Ohio the first No. 13 seed to ever make the Elite Eight.

Shades of Gordon Hayward and Butler in the 2010 NCAA championship.

Like Duke in that game, Carolina dodged the prayer. The Heels won the game in overtime, 73-65.
