Former Titans DT Albert Haynesworth hospitalized, 'in dire need of a kidney'
Albert Haynesworth has been hospitalized with kidney failure and is reaching out on social media for help.
The former NFL defensive tackle who made two Pro Bowls with the Tennessee Titans posted an image of himself in a hospital bed on Instagram Wednesday with the plea for help with a kidney transplant.
“I’m in dire need of a kidney,” Haynesworth wrote. “Mine have finally failed me on July 7, 2019.”
Haynesworth retired from the NFL in 2011 and has dealt with multiple medical issues since.
In 2016, he revealed that he almost died from two brain aneurysms in 2015 that led to an 11-day stay in an intensive care unit.
He said the experience had long-term effects on his cognitive abilities.
“I don't feel as sharp as I used to as far as problem-solving and answering questions and things,” Haynesworth said at the time.
In addition to playing for the Titans, Haynesworth spent two seasons in Washington and spent his final season in 2011 split between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Haynesworth played in college at Tennessee and was a first-round pick of the Titans in 2002.
