Strictly Come Dancing's Melvin Odoom: 'We're all supporting Will Young through this tough time' - EXCLUSIVE
This series of Strictly Come Dancing hasn’t been without its fair share of drama, and last night we were served another shock as it was announced that Will Young had left the competition.
The exact reason behind Will’s departure has not been confirmed, with the popular singer simply stating “personal reasons” as he admitted that he was leaving with “a heart full of joy”.
Shortly after the news broke, we caught up with Will’s ‘Strictly 2016’ classmate, Melvin Odoom, and he reassured us that the star is getting all of the support that he needs from the fellow celebrities and professional dancers.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celeb UK at the Specsaver’s Spectacle Wearer Of The Year Awards, Melvin explained: “We all have a Whatsapp group so I communicate with all the guys now.
“Will left for personal reasons, obviously he can’t do it anymore, which is really, really sad. We loved him so much and he’s been a great asset, he’s so talented -a great dancer.
“Every single person has sent him supportive messages so far, there’s been a lot of support and we love him loads.”
And despite the controversy surrounding his own exit from the show – the dance-off was cancelled as Anastacia wasn’t able to compete -, Melvin insisted that he had no hard feelings and he already felt like a winner for an entirely different reason…
He shared: “For me, it was a great experience, I’ve been wanting to do it for two years so to even be on there dancing was an achievement.
“My mum was so proud of me and to get her tickets to Strictly was like winning the whole competition.
“Anastacia’s health comes first and I love her as much as I love the other constestants so for me, that’s the important thing.”
We’re certainly glad to hear that the Strictly stars are such genuine friends.
