Brad Pitt's best friend, George Clooney, breaks his silence on Angelina Jolie split

We were all left shocked yesterday afternoon when it was announced that Angelina Jolie was divorcing her partner of 12 years, Brad Pitt, following two years of marriage.

And even though the entire world was soon consumed with the breaking news story, it didn’t seem to reach Brad’s best friend, George Clooney, who had no idea about the split when asked about it by CNN last night.

You would have thought Brad would have sent him a text or something, wouldn’t you?

George was asked how he felt about the split by the American news channel, with the actor responding: “I didn’t know that, wow.

“I feel very sorry then. That’s a sad story and unfortunate for a family.

“It’s an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that, that’s the first I’ve heard of it.”

We’re sure that George swiftly contacted his bestie to offer him a shoulder to cry on and a sofa to sleep on the moment that the interview was over.

To be fair to George, Brad himself hadn’t known about the divorce for longer than 24 hours before it became mainstream news, with a source confirming to Us Weekly that the Hollywood actor only found out that his wife had filed the legal papers on Monday following “an incident” that allegedly took place last week.

There is no word on what the alleged “incident” was, but it sounds as though it was a final straw for Angelina, who wasted no time in getting the documents needed to end her marriage together.

Both parties have stated that the privacy of their six children is their priority at this sad time.
