Little Big Town Crushes Sheryl Crow and Alicia Keys Covers on ‘Greatest Hits’

Little Big Town started off this week’s Greatest Hits Thursday night with an amazing, stripped-down performance of Sheryl Crow’s 2002 hit, “Soak Up the Sun.” The country quartet of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet took the stage and sang a sweet a cappella version of the first single from Crow’s album C’mon C’mon.

The Crow cover was just the opener for the musical group; Little Big Town’s performance of Alicia Keys’s “Fallin’” stole the show. Alicia’s first single from her debut album, Songs in A Minor, won three Grammys — including Song of the Year — in 2002. Fourteen years later, Little Big Town belted out an award-worthy performance on the Greatest Hits stage. During their interview, Karen described the classic hit by saying, “This song is vocal gymnastics,” which made it the perfect song for them because the country group is known for its four-part vocal harmonies. Karen joked that there was another reason they chose that song: “We felt like we would sound better at that then, like, “Ice Ice Baby.”

Greatest Hits airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
