Marvel Teams Up With University to Give Kids Mechanical Superhero Hands

The bioengineering department at Rice University in Houston, Texas joined forces with Marvel Entertainment’s travelling live superhero show to give children who lack all or part of a hand the opportunity to test out 3-D-printed mechanical superhero hands. Patients from Houston’s Shriners Hospitals for Children attended the February 5 event.

Text accompanying a YouTube video of the day’s events explains, “working as a team, volunteers from Rice and the global online community e-NABLE joined performers from the Marvel Universe LIVE! show to help the patients and their families build mechanical hands out of plastic parts that were made on 3-D printers at Rice.”
