National Geographic Launches Spectacular Collection of Lodges Around the World

Since the late 1880s, National Geographic has made a name for itself by seeking out discoveries in the far corners of the world. So it makes sense that it would create National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, a network of properties that brings the brand's mission to life. “These lodges share the Society’s vision of preserving the planet for future generations and they demonstrate that sustainability and a world-class guest experience can go hand-in-hand,” says Lynn Cutter, executive vice president, Travel and Licensing for National Geographic.

The two dozen hotels in the portfolio were vetted by National Geographic and must adhere to a rigorous set of criteria, including sustainable tourism and preservation of cultural heritage. Here's a look at some of the extraordinary properties in the collection, from a tiny island hotel in Canada that celebrates the local fishing culture to a Santorini resort that couldn't be anywhere else on the planet.
