Peek into the house built by Peter Billingsley -- aka Ralphie from 'A Christmas Story'
This is the house that Ralphie built.
(Or, at least, it's the house that was built for him.)
Ralphie Parker, the 9-year-old boy at the center of the beloved 1983 film "A Christmas Story," was played by Peter Billingsley. Audience members of a certain age remember him as Messy Marvin from the Hershey's commercials, too.
Billingsley did well for himself, with a low-key career as a Hollywood producer as well as the occasional movie and TV appearance (for example, on his buddy Jon Favreau's "Dinner for Five" talk show on IFC; full episodes are still available on YouTube).
In 2002, Billingsley bought a very small property in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills -- the land didn't total much more than 2,000 square feet -- and soon had built this 2,200-square-foot glassy contemporary.
He's just sold it for $1,375,000, the Los Angeles Times reports. He listed it over the summer at $1,398,500. In 2010, deep in the housing slump, he'd tried to sell it for around $1.5 million but gave up after a few months, Zillow records indicate.
The real estate photos reveal no fishnet-stockinged leg lamps, but we did spy another floor lamp in the background of one picture that looked like it might have been a Major Award at one time.
Alas, we saw no Red Ryder BB guns.
