'American Idol,' The Day After: Dishing About the Top 24 Semifinals

This week on American Idol, the top 24 competed for the public’s vote for the first time this season, performing in front of a live audience at the Fillmore in Detroit. First we had the top 12 boys, and Quentin Alexander owned Wednesday night. Then the ladies performed on Thursday, a night jointly owned by Jax, Sarina-Joi Crow, Tyanna Jones, and Joey Cook. It may be too early to declare Season 14 a “girls’ season,” but the girls pretty much wiped the Fillmore floor with the boys this week.

Here today to discuss the good (Quentin’s fur coat, Jax’s rad riot-grrrl vibe), the bad (those ll-advised Michael Bolton and Train covers), and the really bad (Shi Scott totally unraveling onstage) is Season 6 alum, former TV Guide Channel Idol correspondent, and regular “The Day After” co-host Brandon Rogers. And with 24 contestants, there is a lot to discuss.

But… we managed to fit all 24 performances into our 20-minute chat! If you DVR’d Idol this week and haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, we just saved you an entire hour and 40 minutes. You’re welcome.
