Last of the New Character Posters for 'The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water' (Exclusive)
SpongeBob SquarePants and friends are embarking on an odyssey in a strange realm above the ocean depths. Yes, it’s land itself that’s become the porous protagonist’s new frontier in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
Two character posters from the flick — showing SpongeBob SquarePants himself and Patrick Star — round out the set that launched this week exclusively on Yahoo Movies. (We’ve also posted Mr. Krabs, Plankton, and Squidward Tentacles, see below.)
The upcoming 3-D movie blends animation with live-action as SpongeBob and his ocean-dwelling comrades do battle with an evil pirate named Burger-Beard, played by Antonio Banderas. Burger-Beard riles up the underwater dwellers of Bikini Bottom when he invades their space, looking for the final page of his magical book. From there, SpongeBob and friends are spurred into action — and into some silly interactions with air-breathing landlubbers.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, in 3-D, first surfaces in theaters on Feb. 6.
