Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get married in the Downton Abbey time period with butlers, elegant clothes, and Victorian style courtrooms? We're curious, too!

Life is imitating art, now that the Surrey County Council has a license to conduct weddings in the former Crown Court. Downton Abby used the room in 2011 to film the dramatic trial of Mr. John Bates.

The courtroom is located in Surrey, England, and is inside of the local authority’s Kingston-upon-Thames headquarters. Using the space will cost you up to $4,500 a day.

Not feeling the courtroom? How about Crawley estate? Highclere Castle is the backdrop for Downton’s drama, and is also available to the public for weddings and other private events. But it’s not going to be cheap, alas, what in Downton Abbey is? The price tag to rent Highclere Castle is $24,069 plus tax.

Visit the Surrey County Council for more information on how to tie the knot at Crown Court. The U.S. Embassy has information on how Americans can legally get married in the U.K.
