Supermodel Cindy Crawford and restaurateur husband Rande Gerber, longtime residents of star-studded Malibu, California, have bought a 4-bedroom, 3,700-square-foot home on the beach's Point Dume for $6 million -- apparently to tear it down.

Crawford and Gerber intend to build a "Malibu dream home" in its place on the secluded 1.5-acre property, according to Celebdigs.com, which broke the story. It's one of only four properties "with private path deed beach rights to Little Dume," according to the listing. Celebdigs published photos of the couple visiting the property, accompanied by a crew carrying inspiration boards. Plans and permits are ready to go, the website said.

Crawford and Gerber already own two waterfront homes in Malibu. They listed the smaller of the two for rent last year.

The ranch-style home was built in 1958.

Crawford and Gerber have lived in Malibu for years. Gerber owns a local restaurant, Cafe Habana, where the two often hang out with friends. Crawford has several business ventures, and Gerber, a mainstay in Los Angeles’ hospitality scene, recently launched a new tequila with George Clooney.

The property is at the end of a street inhabited by Julia Roberts, Sean Penn and Kenny G, among others.

The views from Crawford and Gerber’s new property are spectacular, but the 1958 ranch-style home with a lagoon-style pool can't compete with their current Malibu mansion.
