Robert Pattinson Heading Back To Cannes Film Festival This Summer?

Robert Pattinson could return to the Cannes Film Festival this May with his Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg to tout their new film Maps of the Stars.

“The plan is we should be in Cannes with Maps for industry stuff,” David told the press after receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Canadian Screen Awards on March 9.

Rob and David traveled to the festival back in 2012 to premiere their film Cosmopolis. Also making the trip to Cannes that year was Rob’s ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart, in town for the premiere of her film On The Road.

The Twilight co-stars were caught displaying a rare moment of public PDA at Les Marches club in Cannes, two months before Kristen was caught cheating with her Snow White and The Huntsman director.

Rob and Kristen skipped out on the festivities last year (neither had projects to promote) after rumors circulated they would drop-in during a romantic rendezvous through the region.

A romantic trip to this year’s film festival could reignite the couple’s lost love.

Maps of the Stars takes a satirical look at the people who make up Hollywood from the standpoint of the Weiss family, an “archetypal Hollywood dynasty,” according to IMDb.com.

Producer Martin Katz compared the film to David’s Oscar-winning film Crash (1996).

“It’s one of those movies that’s so audacious, it’s going to be a little like Crash, in the way that it affects people,” Martin said about the film that also stars John Cusack, Julianna Moore, Olivia Williams and Mia Wasikowska.

Rob will next appear in The Rover out this summer. He’s currently shooting Life, about photographer Dennis Stock’s relationship legendary screen actor James Dean.
