England fan has piece of his ear bitten off during Uruguay World Cup match

Luis Suarez's controversial bite may have stolen headlines at the 2014 World Cup, but a rather more unpleasant bite took place during England's clash with Uruguay in Sao Paulo.

According to the BBC, an England fan had a piece of his ear bitten off by another Three Lions supporter in a brawl during the Group D match in which Luis Suarez scored two goals and bit zero opponents:

Local and British police have been unable to identify the attacker and no arrests were made.

Former England striker and talkSPORT analyst Stan Collymore claims to have interviewed the victim and tweeted out the front page of Sunday's edition of the Sunday People.

The tabloid newspaper says the biting attack was racially motivated, an assertion backed up by its sister paper The Mirror, who name the victim as Robert Farquharson.

They also have video of the incident and aftermath, which contains strong language and the kind of visual unpleasantness you might expect of this situation.
