Kate Middleton Makes 'Boring' Royal Family Interesting According To Princess Micheal Of Kent

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has been credited as making the royal family more interesting, with Princess Michael of Kent claiming the royals were "thrilled" about the arrival of Prince George of Cambridge.

The royals have been experiencing a rise in popularity following the royal wedding in 2011 and diamond jubilee in 2012 and according to the wife of the Queen's cousin, young royals are exactly what the family need to keep them interesting.

"Of course we're thrilled to have a beautiful young married couple with a baby," she told media tycoon Conrad Black during an interview on Canadian TV where she's currently promoting her latest book.

"Let's hope there are more marriages soon because I think to have that young generation is terribly good for the people. The people love to see happy young people and I think the older generation are a bit boring for most people."

Could the marriage she's hinting at be between Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas. The couple, who have been dating for 18 months, have been persistently surrounded by rumours of an engagement since they went public with their romance last February during a ski trip. Princess Michael currently lives at Kensington Palace, as do the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

In a previous interview she's opened up about living next to the most famous couple on the planet. In an article for Tatler, entitled Blonde Ambition, the Duchess claims she was completely behind the couple's move into Apartment 1A last autumn, which was the former residence of Princess Margaret.

"I was very much behind that. Because it is the nicest apartment. The intelligence of the courtiers!" she wrote. "When Princess Margaret died, they gave it to the museum [i.e. The Historic Royal Palaces]. And obviously the boy was going to marry one day. All right, it was 12 years ago, but one day he'd need the best apartment, surely."
