Let’s talk: New site collects the million reasons people have to live

Collect the reasons - Reasons to live

There are a million reasons to live.

CollectTheReasons.org is attempting to collect them all.

The suicide-prevention site — inspired by PostSecret and the secret-sharing app Whisper — encourages visitors to share what they're living for.

Some people live for grilled cheese. Others for TV shows. And others because they're clinging to the hope that they'll be happy one day.

According to the site:

"CollectTheReasons.org is a site where we remember some of the reasons why we are here — on this beautiful planet. Maybe it will help someone who had a tough day, or maybe make someone smile or laugh."

Today is the fourth annual Bell Let's Talk Day, a day in which Canadians are encouraged to join the conversation about mental health and end the stigma.

Bell will donate 5 cents to mental health initiatives for every text message sent and mobile and long distance call made on its network. It will also donate for every tweet including #BellLetsTalk and Facebook share of the Bell Let’s Talk image.

Since 2011, Bell has committed more than $62 million to Canadian mental health initiatives. Earlier this month, the company announced a $2.5 million donation to Kids Help Phone to help launch a new online and mobile tool to make mental health services and programs more accessible.

"Mental health is a very important issue," Dr. Kellie Leitch, the Minister of Labour and Status of Women, said in a release. "As a practicing physician, I regularly work with and see children who have experienced difficult situations. It is reassuring to know that they have a place to turn — Kids Help Phone and Bell provide an invaluable service for millions of young people in Canada."
