Simple and sweet! These dainty monogrammed cookies are a great idea for weddings or baby showers - really, whenever you want to recognize guests of honor. They also work as the dessert centerpiece for a preppy-themed party.

Ingredients

Butter or sugar cookie dough
2 (1-lb) box confectioners sugar
Water
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 teaspoons powdered egg white
Food coloring
White pearl decorating candies
Round cookie cutter
Parchment paper
16-inch pastry bag for piping the icing - fixed with 1/8" round writing tip.

Directions

1. Preheat your oven according to your cookie dough recipe's instructions.

2. Roll out your cookie dough in batches and cut out circles.

3. Place your cookies on parchment paper lined cookie sheets.

4. Bake your cookies according to your cookie dough recipe's instructions.

5. Working in batches, continue to roll and cut out your dough until all the dough is cut and baked.

6. Set your cookies aside to cool completely.

7. To make the icing for spreading: Mix together 1 box of confectioners sugar, 1/3 cup of water, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whisk ingredients together until smooth. Whisk in food coloring of your choice. Use a knife to spread the icing onto the cookies.

8. To make the piping icing: Mix together 1 box of confectioners sugar, 1/3 cup of water, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whip with a mixer on medium until combined. Add 4 teaspoons of powdered egg whites. Whip on high for 3 minutes, until stiff peaks form. Put the icing into the pastry bag and pipe the icing onto the cookies.
