‘Pete’s Dragon’ Star Oakes Fegley Lands Leading Role In ‘Wonderstruck’; Erick Chavarria Attends ‘Office Christmas Party’

Oakes Fegley, soon to be seen in Disney’s Pete’s Dragon remake, has landed the co-lead role in Todd Haynes’ upcoming drama Wonderstruck. The Amazon Studios pic is based on Brian Selznick’s novel and follows the dual narratives of two deaf children: Rose, who in 1927 escapes the New Jersey house she’s locked in to see her movie idol Lillian Mayhew in New York, and Ben, deaf in one ear and living with his family in 1977 Minnesota, who runs to New York in the wake of his mother’s death and finding a mysterious note. Fegley will be playing Ben, opposite Millicent Simmonds as Rose. Cory Michael Smith has also been cast as Rose’s older brother.

In addition to Pete’s Dragon, set to hit theaters August 12, Fegley is also known for Fort Bliss and for recurring roles on Boardwalk Empire and Person of Interest. He’s repped by Wright Entertainment, Inc., Ann Wright Representatives and Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein & Selz.

Erick Chavarria has joined the cast of DreamWorks’ upcoming Office Christmas Party, an ensemble holiday comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Courtney B. Vance, Vanessa Bayer, Rob Corddry, Randall Park, Abbey Lee, Sam Richardson, and Jamie Chung. The film charts the antics when a CEO attempts to shut down her hard-partying brother’s branch, leading him and his CTO to rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party to impress a potential client and close the sale that will save their jobs. Chavarria has been cast as Alan, head of legal department at the office.

Meanwhile, production on Office Christmas Party has begun in Atlanta with additional scenes having been shot in Chicago, and it enters theaters December 18. Josh Gordon and Will Speck are directing from a script by Laura Solon. Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, and Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady and Daniel Rappaport are producing with Gordon,

Best known for his role on as Kenny Powers’ (Danny McBride) Mexican step-brother on HBO’s East Bound And Down, Chavarria is repped by Global Artists Agency and Kurt Patino at Patino Management Company.
