When you pull up to a gas station, it’s helpful to know which side of your car the fuel tank is on. That piece of information determines which side of the gas-pump islands you’ll drive up.

You probably know by now which side your car’s gas cap is on, the driver’s side or the passenger’s side. But what if you’re driving a rental or someone else’s car, or what if you’ve just bought a new car?
