Sheridan Smith Rushed To Hospital After Collapsing At A Spa Retreat

Sheridan Smith’s wellbeing has been a cause for concern for the last few months but it all came to a head at the BAFTAs earlier this month, with the actress eventually pulling out of her starring West End role in ‘Funny Girl’ for the foreseeable future.

It has now been reported that Sheridan collapsed at lavish Champneys Health spa during her break from the show.

According to reports, two ambulances were called to the luxury retreat after concerned staff realised that Sheridan was seriously ill. She was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for further treatment but has since been released and is thought to have made a full recovery.

Speaking to The Sun, a source shared: “Sheridan has been at Champneys to undergo total rest while she’s been recuperating during her time off from Funny Girl.

"She has been in a better place and things have been looking up, but on Sunday there was a medical emergency and ambulances were called.”

A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance confirmed: “We were called just before 5.20pm on Sunday following reports of a woman in need of medical attention.

"A car from South Central Ambulance Service was sent, along with an ambulance which we assisted with.

"She was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital as a priority.”

It has been a difficult few months for Sheridan, with the actress being left devastated when her father was diagnosed with cancer just as she started her rehearsals for the show, later claiming on Twitter that the Funny Girl producers were forcing her to rehearse despite her personal circumstances.

Sheridan tragically lost her brother to cancer when he was just eighteen years old.

Since then Sheridan has pulled out of a number of performances, including one performance in April that was cancelled fifteen minutes into the show, with audience members claiming that Sheridan was “slurring her words”.

It has now been confirmed that Sheridan will be taking between two and four weeks off after suffering with “stress and exhaustion”, and her understudy Natasha Barnes is currently playing her role of Fanny Brice in the show.
