Sneak Peek of 'Steve Jobs' Doc: A Sad Tale From an Original Mac Member

Steve Jobs was infamously tough to work for. A controversial documentary bearing his name is no hagiography; instead, the film illustrates just how bad things could get for the late tech icon’s employees.

This exclusive clip (above) from Alex Gibney’s forthcoming Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine reveals what would go on behind closed doors at Apple headquarters. Here, a member of the original Macintosh team, the seemingly mild-mannered Bob Belleville, describes levels of stress that caused his personal life to fall into a tailspin, including the loss of his wife and children.

Gibney, who also made Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, first screened the Steve Jobs film at SXSW earlier this year. And its level of truthfulness was, per Gizmodo, immediately called into question by Apple exec Eddie Cue, also a friend of the late Jobs.

But while some are claiming Apple doesn’t want people to see the film, it is indeed available on iTunes — and other on-demand platforms — on Friday, the same day it opens in select theaters.
