Kevin Durant's Miami penthouse sells for almost twice what he paid

It appears that Kevin Durant is good at more than basketball: He also has an eye for hot real estate properties.

Maybe he can pick it up as a side hustle as his foot heals.

Durant's Miami penthouse recently sold for $3.15 million, almost double what he paid for it just four years ago. Click here or on a photo for a slideshow.

The three-bedroom, five-bathroom, 3,800-square-foot condo looks out over Biscayne Bay, offering stereotypically stunning city views throughout the home. Terraces totaling nearly 1,000 square feet surround the unit.

It tops the 900 Biscayne Bay skyscraper—the fourth tallest building in Florida.

The unit includes a master suite with dual closets, a smart house system (including electronic shades if you get sick of the sweeping views) and a home theater.

The listing calls it "sexy and refined Miami living in the heart of the city."

The buyer, a Colombian businessman, plans to rent out the fully furnished condo for $22,000 a month, according to the Miami Herald. (For the record, a traditional, 30-year mortgage for this property would only cost you about $15,000 a month.) No other three-bedroom unit currently for rent in the building comes close to that price, but of course, no other unit is this penthouse.

Durant, through a company he controls, bought the property for $1.825 million in April 2011, which was a great time to buy in Miami. Home prices had bottomed out—even top-tier properties carried a median-price of about $300,000, which has grown to more than $450,000 today, according to Zillow. Still, Durant's property beat even that growth rate.

He listed the condo at $3.45 million just as he was undergoing foot surgery. It went under contract within about three weeks.

Oklahoma City Thunder fans may breathe a slight sigh of relief with the sale, as it seems to indicate that the six-time NBA all-star and 2014 MVP isn't hanging around Miami. He becomes a free agent next year, and there has been speculation about whether or not he'll stay with the Thunder.

But Durant has been notoriously committed to the team, thanking each of his teammates in his 2014 Most Valuable Player speech with individual, thoughtful dedications (along with a tear-jerking tribute to his mom) and has told ESPN, "I love it here, man. I love my teammates, I love the city, and I don't really think about anywhere else."

It certainly seems he won't be thinking much about Miami anymore.
