Ronda Rousey's younger sister stars as Rousey in powerful UFC 193 promo

The UFC has really stepped it up with the promotional videos for their title fights. Their latest commercial for the UFC 193 showdown between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm is yet another example of the UFC’s ability to hype up a fight, even though most don’t perceive this particular bout to be very competitive at all.

The commercial parallels the respective rises of Rousey and Holm in combat sports with Rousey’s entry in judo while Holm is shown stepping into a boxing gym in her teenage years. Eventually, their paths through their respective crafts converge to where we are today as Holm prepares to face Rousey at UFC 193.

The commercial – dubbed “Revolution” – is very well done, but you probably are wondering where they found a young lady to portray Rousey during her 2008 Olympic run that bears such an uncanny resemblance to the most dominant female athlete in sports.

Well, that’s because that young lady just so happens to be Julia De Mars, the 17-year-old younger sister of Ronda Rousey. De Mars is seen about midway through the commercial, which also features Rousey’s mother, AnnMaria De Mars, when Rousey is competing in the 2008 Olympic games and eventually comes across a television showing a UFC event. There’s no doubt about the bloodline when Julia raises the bronze medal and the trademark smirk that Rousey often displays is stretched across her face. If you didn’t know any better, you’d certainly think that it was Rousey.

“Amazing UFC 193 promo,” Rousey wrote on her Facebook account. “My little sister even plays the younger me in it!!”

De Mars is currently in her senior year in high school at Villanova Preparatory School in Ojai, California, where she plays soccer. She did try judo once upon a time but has taken a liking to kicking a ball rather than an opponent’s face.
