Jimmy Butler has a 6,000-pound aquarium shaped like a boombox now

It's something we've all said to ourselves at one time or another: "When my ship comes in and I strike it rich, I'm going to buy a 6,000-pound fish tank that looks like a boombox and actually plays music." Sure, we've all allowed ourselves to daydream about that broadly relatable life goal in the midst of yet another flight of fancy, but Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler has actually grabbed the universally shared brass ring:

Butler, who inked a five-year, $95 million contract extension with the Bulls this summer, elected to outfit his mansion with the monstrous music-themed aquarium as part of an episode of the Animal Planet series "Tanked" in an epsiode that will air Friday night, according to Tracy Swartz of the Chicago Tribune:

The 9-by-10-foot aquarium holds more than 600 gallons and 50 fish — a nod to the Bulls' upcoming 50th anniversary — including the Jordan's tuskfish to honor Bulls star Michael Jordan.

The aquarium has a custom bubbler to make it look like it's a boombox equalizer, but the feature Butler seemed to enjoy the most is the wireless speaker system on top so music can filter through the tank.

"My fish gonna be bumpin' here," Butler said.

As Jimmy Buckets' eccentricities go, we're going to rank this one below his "pet" Royce and teddy-bear sneakers, roughly even with being deep and true best friends with Mark Wahlberg, and very high above driving around in a car without a rear-view mirror because of symbolism.

Butler reacts to the tank by saying he wishes he could pop it up on his shoulder and carry it around, calling to mind an anecdote NBA.com's Fran Blinebury shared in a recent remembrance of the late, great Darryl Dawkins:

One season Dawkins had to miss several games with a sore shoulder. He was unable to lift his right arm above his head to shoot or dunk. He was sent to the see the Sixers team doctors and was given a program of rest and therapy and had to undergo treatment from a transcutaneous electronic nerve stimulator. The pain eventually subsided until the next road trip. That's when the late Chuck Daly, then assistant coach, noticed Dawkins boarding a team flight singing aloud. "Do you think?" Daly asked, pointing at a boombox the size of a small house perched on the big man's shoulder.

If a "small house"-sized stereo could waylay Chocolate Thunder, one that weighs three tons would probably do a real number on the 6-foot-7, 220-pound swingman, so let's thank heaven for small mercies and just say that, when it comes to unconventional home furnishings, making purchases that would look at home on Planet Lovetron seems like a pretty good way to go about establishing an overall sense of decor. Enjoy feeding all those fish, Jimmy. Here's hoping they dig your tunes.
