The Most Baller Hot Spots from ‘Entourage’

Ballers, rejoice; Entourage returns this week in the form of a new movie! The long-running HBO show about young movie star Vincent Chase and his boys — best friend Eric, brother Johnny Drama, consummate hanger-on Turtle, and the potty-mouthed super-agent Ari Gold — taught us how to V.I.P. in style during its eight-season run. Its depiction of the beautiful women, fancy cars, sprawling houses, and endless parties that made up these guys’ lives made Entourage the ultimate male fantasy.

Now you can prepare for the return of Entourage by replicating the boys’ A-list lifestyle. Like fans of fellow HBO classic Sex and the City, who often flock to New York City to enjoy the real-life locations they saw on the show, Entourage fans can go on their own pilgrimage in the show’s (primarily) Southern California locales.

We must admit: if you visit some of these spots, you may not be treated exactly the same way the Entourage boys were, unless you happen to be a gorgeous hot star. But we mortals can still have some good times in these places. So grab your boys, swear them to “What-Happens-In-the-Group-Stays-In-the-Group” secrecy, and hit the most baller locations in Entourage.

Auto Club Speedway of California, Fontana

Okay, so maybe you can’t just take a day and race Ferraris with your best friends, as the Entourage boys were known to do at this Fontana racetrack. But there are more earthbound automotive pursuits to be had here, including the chance to drag race your own vehicle on the track.

Urth Cafe, West Hollywood

What Monk’s Café was to Seinfled, Urth Cafe was to Entourage. More than any bar, lounge, or club, this organic coffee chain’s West Hollywood location was probably the spot the boys visited most often. Perhaps Vince and the gang became addicted to the cafe’s exclusive line of organic coffees, which helped them function after their long nights of partying. Hey, even ballers need fuel!

Koi, West Hollywood

This sophisticated Asian-influenced West Hollywood restaurant served as neutral territory where frenemies Ari and Eric would sit down and discuss Hollywood strategy. Unfortunately, these meals sometimes ended with Eric storming off after threatening to punch Ari for being a condescending d-bag (but, hopefully, not before trying the Miso Bronzed Black Cod).

Mastro’s Steakhouse, Beverly Hills

The place to go when you find yourself suddenly on the A-List. This Beverly Hills steakhouse is where the boys celebrated when Vince’s movie Aquaman opened big (idle thought: Now that a real movie adaptation of the comic book character has been greenlit, does the fictional Vincent Chase version qualify as a prequel?). And in case you really want to get into the Aquaman association, Mastro’s also has a full seafood menu.

The Edison, Los Angeles

Esquire once labeled this downtown L.A. nightspot one of the best bars in America. That made it a more-than-appropriate place for the Entourage boys to celebrate Vince’s new movie role back in season 5. The Edison is famous for its expertly crafted cocktails, so we really hope Turtle savored and sipped his slowly rather than downing it in a single shot as is his wont.

Viceroy Santa Monica

What’s better than sipping on a cocktail in the poolside cabanas at this sun-kissed Santa Monica hotel? Having your agent meet you here to hand you a $2 million check, as Ari did to Vincent here. You can enjoy the chic outdoor space — one of the Viceroy’s three nightlife spots — but getting someone to hand you a $2 million check may take some doing.

The Roosevelt Hotel

Vince may have hit rock bottom at this Hollywood institution, but the Roosevelt is still a top hot spot. It boasts three bars, and is a prime star-watching locale. But as Vince’s bloody example proves, if you show up here it’s best to behave yourself.

The Bazaar by José Andrés at SLS Beverly Hills

This swanky indoor piazza is where Vince first started wooing Sophia, the cute Vanity Fair reporter sent to interview him in the show’s final season. The Bazaar’s warm and sexy Mediterranean-themed setting is the perfect place for those occasions when you want to leave the boys behind and focus on one special someone.

Crazy Girls, Hollywood

The Entourage boys are no strangers to strip clubs — and this is one of their favorites. L.A.’s Crazy Girls boasts that it has “The Best Strippers in Hollywood.” There may be something to that; any strip club that gets repeated business from Johnny Drama is worth checking out.

El Caballero Country Club, Tarzana

Will you see Ari Gold having a golf outing with Mark Wahlberg (aka the executive producer of Entourage) if you visit El Caballero? Maybe not. But this Tarzana country club is known as one of the best golf spots in all of Southern California, which is why the Ari/Marky Mark power meeting took place here. The bad news is that it’s members-only. But if you’re a golfer with a movie star friend who owes you a favor, it’s definitely worth arranging a hook-up.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas

Considering the boys’ devotion to the pleasures of wine, women, and song, it’s somewhat surprising they didn’t spend even more time in Sin City. Fortunately for us viewers, the time they visited Hard Rock’s Vegas hotel in the show’s third season had enough Sin City-induced bad ideas to last a lifetime, including an epic losing streak at the card tables, an aborted massage, a stripper-judging contest, and an all-out brawl. You might improve your luck if you book the Hard Rock’s famed Real World Suite, which is priced at an Entourage-level $8,000 to $12,000…a night!

Joshua Tree National Park

This isn’t exactly a hot nightclub or cool bar. But the fact that Joshua Tree — made up of two deserts — is the setting of one of Entourage’s best-loved episodes is pretty baller anyway. Bring along your own entourage (packing mind-altering mushrooms is optional) to enjoy this 800,000-acre wonder.
