Watch Tina Fey Embarrass the Heck Out of Steve Martin's Wife

Diane Keaton, Jack Black, Conan O'Brien, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and more comedy luminaries recently honored Steve Martin with the 43rd AFI Lifetime Achievement Award.

One of the most hilarious moments during the star-studded, joke-packed Hollywood ceremony (which airs tomorrow on TBS) happened when Fey pointed out her striking resemblance to Martin's wife, Anne Stringfield. And Yahoo Movies has the exclusive clip above.

Martin’s Baby Mama co-star roasted herself, saying Stringfield is a “younger, thinner, smarter version of me.” (Both are bespectacled with brown hair.) Fey’s point: to thank Martin for keeping her “hustling.” The audience roared with laughter when the camera stayed fixed on the 69-year-old actor’s wife, whom he married in 2007, for many beats too long. (The two welcomed their first child, a girl, in late 2012.)

Stringfield, in her early 40s, was visibly amused and embarrassed several times during Fey's bit, laughing nervously, running her fingers through her hair, and even taking a slug of wine. Luckily Martin was there to discreetly grasp her hand under their table.

Sure, Stringfield is a slightly younger than 45-year-old Fey. As for smarter? While intelligence may be in the brain of the beholder, Stringfield, a writer and former New Yorker editor, is definitely bright.

(Martin fans might wonder whether his novella-turned-movie Shopgirl, starring Claire Danes as his much younger love interest, was based on his real-life May-December relationship. When asked, Martin has responded cryptically, only saying “not entirely.”)

Watch all of Fey’s funny tribute — along with many more sidesplitting moments — during the AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Steve Martin on Saturday at 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on TBS (with encore on TCM July 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT).
