Going on vacation means relaxing, exploring, and taking a boatload of pictures to help you remember your amazing time. But unless you have some serious photo skills, you may come back with less-than-stellar snaps, leaving the beautiful memories in your head rather than on paper. Now one company has got you covered!

Flytographer is the first vacation-photography service that uses local, vetted photographers in almost every city to capture great photos on any trip, big or small.

“It was created based on my philosophy that memories are the best souvenirs,” says founder Nicole Smith. “It is the first-of-its-kind travel photography service that connects travelers with local photographers that curate fun, candid photo shoots and share insider tips along the way.”

The former Microsoft marketing consultant thought of the idea when she reunited with a friend in Paris. “We were disappointed with the photos we took and had asked strangers to take, so we asked a local friend to capture some candid shots of us as we strolled the streets, soaking up Paris,” she said. “The photos turned out beautifully, as they perfectly captured the spirit of the trip, and I wanted to give others the opportunity to preserve their memories in a professional yet candid way, too.”

Now the business has blossomed into a worldwide network of 220 photographers in 130 destinations on every continent except Antarctica. All you have to do is go online, browse the photographers in the city you are visiting, and book your shoot. The photographers will take pictures of anything from a family photo op to a surprise proposal or even a solo snap if you’re traveling alone.

“Not only are our Flytographers professionals,” says Nicole. “They also serve as informal local tour guides, sharing insider tips on where to go, the most photographic spots around the city, plus hidden gems and the places to avoid.”

The company promises professional-quality photos that are beyond Christmas-card worthy. “I am usually the photographer on family vacations, and I never make it into any pictures,” says Jennifer Kerr, who used the service while in Barcelona. “We had a great time with Cathy, our photographer in Barcelona.

“She worked well with my two young, active boys, and we even had our pictures before we got home from vacation.”

Flytographer offers photography packages ranging from $250 to $500 for shoots up to 90 minutes.
