'Impastor': Watch the Opening Scene of Michael Rosenbaum's New TV Land Comedy

Where’s Superman when you need him? Smallville veteran Michael Rosenbaum could use some of the Man of Steel’s can-do spirit in his new series, Impastor. Debuting on July 15 on TV Land, the dark comedy casts the former Lex Luthor as suicidal small-time crook Buddy Dobbs, who — through a fateful mix-up that you can watch in this exclusive clip — winds up impersonating a small-town priest. Settling into his new life as “Jonathan,” Dobbs has to learn how to deliver the word of God to an eccentric cast of supporting characters, including his overeager assistant Dora (Sara Rue) and temptress treasurer (Mircea Monroe). Naturally, Buddy’s criminal past occasionally proves something of a hindrance in that regard, and his close calls with the thugs on his tail will keep the cliffhangers coming all season. That’s another lesson Buddy could learn from Rosenbaum’s old Smallville friend-turned-nemesis, Clark Kent — how to hide his secret identity.

Impastor premieres July 15 at 10:30 p.m. on TV Land.
