A school has agreed to take an eight-year-old HIV positive boy after a village in China voted to banish him to protect themselves.

Luo Kun Kun was banished from his own village after being described as a ‘ticking time bomb’, the Daily Mail reported.

Villagers, including his own grandfather, signed a petition last year to get rid of the child to protect the villagers’ health.

The child told media: Nobody plays with me, I play alone.”

A school in Linfen, in the Shanxi province, has agreed to help. The Red Ribbon school is reportedly the only school in China equipped to look after and educate HIV-positive children.

The government sent Kun Kun there after his case made world headlines and received global condemnation.

Kun Kun contracted the virus from his mother when she was pregnant with him, but his family only found out about his illness when he was five years old.

When he was diagnosed, his grandparents were shunned so they sided with the locals.

Wang Yishu, party chief of Shufangya village, said: 'The villagers sympathise with him, he is innocent, and only a small child. But his AIDS is too scary for us'.

Headteacher Guo Xiaoping said: 'A good social and educational environment is important for Kun Kun and with the help of teachers, he is more open and polite than before'.
