Denny's Unveils $300 Breakfast in Manhattan—Are They Nuts?!

In a move that is appeasing and amusing diner aficionados from downtown to uptown, Denny’s is opening its first-ever Manhattan location on August 29.  Located in the Financial District at 150 Nassau Street, this won’t look like your standard Denny’s. This location features swanky décor like leather booths and black-and-white photos to cater to the high-end clientele in the area.

And guys, there will be booze! The restaurant has a liquor license, so in addition to a patty melt, patrons will also have access to a full-service craft cocktail bar. There are only a handful of Denny’s that serve alcohol, so this is kind of a big deal. Mimosa, anyone?

But the menu item grabbing the most attention is the Grand Cru Slam Breakfast, which includes Grand Slam Entrees for two, a 2003 bottle of Dom Pérignon and a high-five from the bartender, naturally — all for $300. We wonder if you have to pay extra for coffee?

If you think $300 for breakfast is a bit extreme, then hop in a cab and head up to Norma’s at Le Parker Meriden in midtown Manhattan. For $1,000 you can order the Zillion-Dollar Frittata, made with six eggs, lobster claws, and 10 oz. of Sevruga caviar. Yes, the cost is ridiculous, but just imagine all of the likes you’ll get on the Instagram photo.

New Yorkers aren’t the only ones crazy enough to drop a month's rent on a single meal. The AnQi Pho soup at Santa Monica’s Tiato restaurant is so good that they have slapped a $5,000 price tag on it. The delicacy contains Wagyu beef, white Alba truffles, foie gras broth, and noodles from a rare blue lobster meat. We’re sure it’s good, but for $1, you can get a pack of ramen with some grilled veggies — and it's pretty good, too. Just saying.

If you’re not up for spending an arm and a leg on breakfast, Denny’s will still have all of your favorite menu items, from chicken-fried steak to the Lumberjack Slam.
