Watch Kate Hudson Do the Best Matthew McConaughey Impression You've Ever Seen

There are some pretty great Matthew McConaughey impersonations out there, but Kate Hudson has just taken it to a whole new level.

Hudson and McConaughey go back a long way, having starred together in two rom-coms and also doing some friendly vacationing. Her familiarity with the 44-year-old Oscar winner showed when she took the stage on Tuesday night at his American Cinematheque honors in Beverly Hills.

Hudson happily shared some epic McConaughey memories, recalling a time — way before the so-called McConaissance — when they got scuba-certified for 2008’s Fools Gold off the coast of Australia: “We’re way out in the Great Barrier Reef and I had just found out that my divorce had been finalized. I was terrified of swimming with sharks and I was just… staring at the water, like, ‘What’s happened in my life?’” Hudson recalled saying. “Out of the water pops Matthew — no shirt, full gear, spits out the regulator…” Then she launched into arguably the most dead-on impression of the Dallas Buyers Club actor ever performed: “He’s like [laughing], ‘Come onnn, Hudson. Let’s go, baby. Uh-huh… It’s like 1969 down there, baby. It’s Woodstock, man.”

That set off the audience, including McConaughey leading ladies Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, and Jessica Chastain, roaring with laughter, marking the biggest highlight during a highlight-packed night.

During that same speech, Hudson — who also starred with McConaughey in 2003’s How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days — also revealed that she has seen the actor naked. One night, while they were on a vacation with friends in a remote cottage, Hudson lost track of her bongo-loving buddy. She went outside to look for McConaughey and found him yelling, “Whoo! Whoooo!” while standing on a rock… with no clothes on. “He’s definitely one with nature!” she said.
