Sen. Marco Rubio issues terror warning: Not if, but when

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio warns that “thousands of people around the world” are plotting terror attacks like the one on the staff of the magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, and that an attack on America is “not a question of if, but when.”

Sen. Rubio sat down with Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric in Little Havana, a Miami neighborhood that is home to many of the 2 million Cuban-Americans who live in the United States. The conversation, which took place at the famed restaurant Versailles, an epicenter for anti-Castro sentiment and a frequent stop for presidential candidates, also explored the normalization of diplomatic relations with Cuba and America’s immigration policies.

The once unknown Florida state representative, 43, rose through the GOP ranks to be deemed the “crown prince” of the tea party movement, and his name has been mentioned in conversations about the 2016 race.

A social and fiscal conservative, Sen. Rubio detailed for Couric some of the economic platforms he presents in his new book “American Dreams” and discussed his views on gay marriage and abortion.

He also weighed in on the possibility of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton being elected to the White House, saying it would amount to a “death blow” to the American dream, and offered his take on his potential Republican challengers should he decide to run: former Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Rand Paul and former Gov. Mitt Romney.

The son of Cuban immigrants, Rubio discusses why he feels the move to open up relations with Cuba won’t make things better, and why he still favors sanctions against the Castro regime.

After a failed attempt to pass a bill he co-sponsored, Sen. Rubio details his plans to continue fighting for immigration reform.
