Charlotte Crosby's Boyfriend Mitch Jenkins Tells Fans They're Engaged In Early April Fools Prank

Just when we were getting a little overexcited at the news that Charlotte Crosby was set to marry boyfriend Mitchell Jenkins, the Geordie Shore star has revealed that her engagement announcement tweet was all just a prank.

By Mitch himself. Our hearts can't deal with this kind of crueler than Cruella De Vil stuff.

It all started when Charlotte, 24, seemingly took to Twitter to reveal that she was engaged, writing: "OMG I SAID YES," followed by your standard engagement emojis.

We're talking the ring, the bride, the underrated heart-eyed face and of course, the red heart.

Boyfriend Mitch helped make the whole thing seem more realistic by tweeting: "Only gone and got me self a ball and chain," followed by the grinning emoji and the, er, bomb one.

Not *exactly* the heart-eyed emoji, is it?

However, whilst we were already busy hat shopping, Charlotte's former Geordie co-star Sophie Kasaei took to Twitter hinting that it was all a load of rubbish.

She retweeted Charlotte's apparent big announcement and added: "MITCH GET OFF CHARLOTTES TWITTER THIS IS NOT FUNNY."

Wah. Sad times.

A few hours later, the prank victim herself tweeted fans to let them know that, sadly, Mitch HADN'T put a ring on it and that he was in fact in a helluva lot of trouble.

Good luck, mate.

She told followers: "Soooooooooooo don't ever let you Boyfriend get your phone when your drunk. I'm not engaged and believe me he will be punished today.

"ermmmmm I suppose we could kind of day April fools?!"

Charlotte also had to set the record straight with a tonne of her famous pals who'd sent her congratulatory messages, including TOWIE's Sam Faiers, Luisa Zissman, Chanelle Hayes and her Geordie Shore co-stars Ricci Guarnaccio and James Tindale.

This morning, the gorge Geordie gal has also tweeted: "Just to clarify again I am NOT engaged. follow me on snap chat to see the version of events which followed the engagement lie by my idiot bf."

Something tells us Mitch is in for some SERIOUS payback as the couple enjoy a holiday in Australia.

The two haven't had the smoothest of relationships, splitting back in September when Mitch ended things via text after 18 months together.

Luckily, the couple are now back together and Charlotte's even gone and got a little 'M' tattooed on her arm to show how much she loves him.

N'aww.

Probably not feeling the love *quite* as much this morning after that Twitter prank though. Don't let your phone out of your sight, Mitch!
