SUNNYVALE, CA and NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - February 19, 2015) - City of North Las Vegas (CNLV) Utility customers who wish to pay their bills with cash can now bring a PayNearMe payment code to 7-Eleven, Family Dollar, or other participating retail locations and simply hand both code and cash to the cashier. CNLV's 90,000 customers can find their unique PayNearMe payment code on a printed copy of their utility bill. Customers can also text "NLV" to 88288, or visit www.paynearme.com/nlv to have their respective codes sent to their smartphones.

The City of North Las Vegas is automatically notified of a payment as soon as the cashier collects it, and the funds are guaranteed. Customers receive receipts as proof of their transactions.

There are 260 PayNearMe payment locations in Nevada. Many of the stores are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it easy and convenient for residents with even the latest work shifts to stay on top of their bills. Residents who are traveling can take advantage of the 17,000 retail payment locations in PayNearMe's nationwide network.

"Residents of this city work all hours due to the numerous casinos in the area. PayNearMe eliminates the need for our customers to worry about when they can make payments, and it's an added convenience for those who wish to pay on Fridays when our offices are closed," said Randy DeVaul, City of North Las Vegas' utilities director. "We process 4,100 money order and cash payments per month -- this technology will free up our in-office resources to handle customer service needs even more quickly and streamline our payment reconciliation process."

"Americans are choosing cash over plastic for a variety of reasons -- security, distrust in banks, fear of identity theft -- but choosing to pay with cash shouldn't mean they have to jump through extra hoops," said Danny Shader, PayNearMe's founder and CEO. "Money orders are a hassle to obtain, and consumers still have to deliver them in person or mail them. Paying with cash often means taking time off work to head to a central payment office, in addition to the headache of parking and paying for gas or bus fare. We are proud to offer North Las Vegas residents an easier way to pay -- how they want and when they want."
