Kratos Defense & Security Solutions wins defense contract valued at $6 billion
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc. said Wednesday that it has won a federal defense contract valued at $6 billion over the life of the five-year deal.
Under the agreement, Kratos will provide continuous monitoring as a service to the Department of Homeland Security for its "Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation Program." The program is designed to protect federal and government information technology networks from cybersecurity threats.
Patrick Howard, a practice leader with Kratos and the former Nuclear Regulatory Commission's chief information security officer, will lead the effort.
The contract has a one-year base and four one-year options and is valued at $6 billion over the life of the contract.
Shares of the security technology company added 24 cents, a 3 percent gain, to close at $7.33 and fell 24 cents to $7.09 in after-hours trading.
