Bridezilla Asks Guests To Go Vegan Weeks Before Her Big Day

Bridezilla-mania has officially gotten out of control.

It’s no longer enough for certain brides to demand that guests spend wads of money on presents, new outfits, and plane tickets to far-flung destination weddings. Nope, they now feel A-OK dictating to guests exactly what they should be eating—for three weeks prior to their big day.

Well, at least one betrothed lady does, anyway.

Rainbeau Mars, the actor and yoga- and holistic-health guru with “an irresistible glow,” according to her website, has requested that her guests “try out a vegan, and subsequently live food diet for 21 days” before her upcoming Kauai wedding to Hollywood business manager Michael Karlin, according to the Huffington Post. That way, Mars’s publicist explained in the piece, “everyone will look and feel their best for HER big day.”

Mars, though, responding to a Cosmopolitan story about her unique request on Tuesday, posted on Facebook in her own defense. "The story was twisted and I never 'demanded' anything as such. We were intending to include everyone with an invitation to what is suppose to be a healing and purifying ceremony for all," she wrote. "We did invite people to join us for the cleanse that my fiance and I are doing in preparation for our sacred events. Some guests are joining us along with the other people that do this with us around the world and others are not. Its all good."

Still, the request is sure to go over like a loaf of sprouted lentil bread with certain invited guests, such as Joan Rivers, who took a stab at vegans in her 2012 book “I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me,” chiding, “‘God gave you incisors, so what’s the problem?” Though other presumed buddies—like Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson—shouldn't have any trouble at all.

Mars’s request is just the latest shocking request from high-maintenance brides. On the new Bravo reality series “Newlyweds: The First Year,” bride Kimberly Gedeon of Long Island asked the women in her bridal party to lose 10 pounds each before the wedding.

Another demanding wife-to-be had her anonymous, hellish list of rules go viral last year. She required, in no particular order, that bridesmaids must respond to any wedding-related emails immediately (not in 2 to 3 days); splurge on required flights and dresses (“if you think by affordable its going to be a $25 forever 21 dress then you’re going to the wrong wedding”); and, most incredibly, clear with her any vacations they’d like to take in the seven months leading up to her wedding. Mess up on any of the rules, she warned, and they'd lose their precious position.

Other recent bridezilla moves, according to Business Insider, have included: kicking a pregnant bridesmaid out of her photos so she wouldn’t “ruin” them; forcing bridesmaids to dye their hair brown so she could be the only blonde; charging $80 for each dinner guest.

As for Mars, no word on whether she will be providing the raw vegan food to her guests in the weeks leading up to her affair. But at least they’ll be well taken care of when they arrive, with a full range of healthy activities on tap including breath-work classes, yoga and horseback riding. So just deal. OK?
