* Pack smart. You may be covered in fluorescent water or paint, so unless you want a neon car interior, bring wet wipes, plus a towel to lay on the seat for the ride home.

* Arrive early. Get there at least an hour before the start for preparty primping at glow paint and swag stations.

* Protect your tech. Don't risk ruining your phone or camera on the course; keep them in a plastic bag and take pics before and after the run.

* Bring money.
Races offer food and booze at the after-party, but it can be cash-only.
