Tiger Woods reasoning to go public with relationship had to do with the paparazzi

Tiger Woods did something that was very un-Tiger like on Monday afternoon: He broadcasted something about his private life. Over the years we've known very little about Tiger's life outside of golf, which is why the news from three years ago took us by surprise.

Woods' reasoning for revealing his relationship with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, however, was pretty sound. He said in his Wednesday press conference at the Arnold Palmer Invitational that one of his main reasons in take his relationship public was to stick it to the paparazzi.

"We're very happy where we're at, but also we wanted to limit the stalkerazzi and all those sleazy websites that are out there following us," Woods said. "I've had situations where it's been very dangerous for my kids and the extent they'll go to."

Woods has been known to break news on his own website, TigerWoods.com, and mentioned that by him releasing the pictures himself it "basically devalued the first photos" that paparazzi might've tried to sell to magazines or websites.

This isn't the first time this year that we've heard about big-time golfers struggling to get away from the paparazzi. Bubba Watson mentioned after divulging that he had purchased Tiger's old house that one of the main reasons was the gated community because he had been chased by cameras crews with his family in tow.

It's a smart strategy by Tiger to just get the news out himself. His answer in his Wednesday press conference about the Vonn situation was one of his best in recent memory and rehearsed or not rehearsed he seemed as confident in the answer and reasoning as he's been in a long time about something that didn't have to do with his golf game.

So now the question has been asked about Vonn and Tiger has answered it. Hopefully for Tiger's sake the immediate uproar about all of this will go back to a mutter and he can focus on winning another golf tournament this week at Bay Hill for the eighth time in his career.
