Doug McDermott leads Creighton back to the top of the Valley

Creighton has the lead in the Missouri Valley all to itself and the Bluejays got there in pink.

Injuries and inexperience seem to be finally catching up with Wichita State, which lost its second straight game Saturday allowing Creighton to take sole possession of first place with its 75-58 victory over Bradley.

After losing two road games in a four-day span two weeks ago, Creighton seems to be back on track earning its third consecutive victory Saturday and becoming the third team in the nation to get to 20 victories this season.

Indiana State also lost Saturday dropping two games behind Creighton in the Valley. The challenge for the Bluejays now is staying on top of the conference despite having to finish the regular season playing four of their final seven games on the road. The first of those four road games is Wednesday at Indiana State.

The Bluejays held their third annual “pink out” game benefiting cancer research. It is a cause dear to the hearts of Creighton coach Greg McDermott and his son and star player Doug McDermott. Theresa McDermott, Greg's wife and Doug's mother, is a breast cancer survivor.

Doug McDermott scored 25 points. It is the 12th time this season he has scored at least 25.
