Ronaiah Tuiasosopo demonstrates the ‘Lennay voice’ for Dr. Phil

On Thursday, Dr. Phil McGraw aired the first half of a two-part interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the admitted hoaxer behind the catfishing trap that snared former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. In that segment, Tuiasosopo admitted to romantic feelings for Te'o. He also said that the voice on the phone during those infamous voicemails was, in fact, him and not a female cousin.

Still unanswered during that first segment, however, was how exactly Tuiasosopo pulled off such a feat of vocal dexterity. On Friday, he demonstrated his technique to Dr. Phil. Initially, he went behind a screen for some reason and spoke in a higher-pitched female voice:

Tuiasosopo ended the interview by apologizing to everyone involved in the hoax. Where it goes from here, we don't know ... but everyone's going to be a lot more careful on the phone, that's for sure.
